Todd Bourque
Upper School History Instructor
In 2017, Todd Bourque relocated to Austin, Texas from his native Lafayette, Louisiana, and has been teaching history since 2011. He received both his BA and MA in history at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Todd is also an active historian with specific interests in late 18th and early 19th century medical history, as well as the history of New Orleans Jazz. In fact, he was in a History Channel documentary, "America: Promised Land," about the first licensed pharmacist in the United States. Currently, he is completing a book for University Press of Mississippi entitled, Johnny St. Cyr: A Life on Six Strings.
When not reading through 200+ year-old documents or spending hours scrolling through microfilm (in English, French, and Spanish languages), Todd enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, cooking (he is Cajun after all!), playing guitar, and gardening. Indeed, his wife and their four children love his cooking--his guitar playing not so much.
