Welcome to the Theater Program at St. Michael's Prep, where we celebrate the creative journey of each student and the collaborative spirit of ensemble performance.
Our philosophy centers on nurturing individual artistic growth while fostering a sense of community within our lively and engaging theater productions. Whether in the Delgado Theatre at our Upper School or on the stage in our Lower and Middle School, students are encouraged to express themselves in countless creative ways.

At St. Michael's Prep, students have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of performing arts courses, and not only expand their skill development but also the experience of being part of a dynamic performing group, with numerous opportunities to showcase talents in front of diverse audiences.

  • Middle School Drama Performance

    One of the highlights of the school year is the Middle School fall drama performance. Students hone their acting abilities and are also encouraged to get involved in the technical aspects of the show through building sets, creating costumes and sourcing props.  Prior productions have included dinner theaters, audience-involved mysteries and traditional plays.

  • Middle School Musical

    A beloved tradition, our spring musical offers students in grades 6-8 the chance to audition, rehearse, and perform in a full-scale production. From acting and singing to set design and costume creation, students collaborate to bring captivating performances to life.

  • Theater Curriculum

    Our theater courses provide a comprehensive exploration of performance, production, history, and theory. Students engage in a variety of activities, including improvisation, monologue performance, and puppetry, gaining a deeper understanding of theater's rich tradition and collaborative nature.

  • Varsity Drama Team

    For students passionate about drama, our Varsity Drama Team offers opportunities to create productions for the broader community. Whether through extracurricular activities or competitive events, students have the chance to showcase their talents on a larger stage.

  • Stagecraft, Speech, and Debate

    In addition to acting, students can explore stagecraft, speech, and debate, with opportunities for national competitions and travel experiences.
