At St. Michael’s Prep Middle School, education is a four-year journey through which dedicated faculty collaborate to create and bring to life cross-curricular projects. With the integration of STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Math) and Innovation across subject areas, students experience the interrelatedness of their learning, as they develop into global citizens, independent thinkers, and responsible members of the community.
St. Michael's Prep Middle School students are problem-solvers, critical thinkers, and blossoming communicators. Language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, theology, and world languages are all considered core subjects, designed to allow students a full cognitive experience throughout their journey. The wide range of elective choices at Prep provides opportunities for students to synthesize their learning and apply their skills and knowledge in a variety of relevant and enjoyable contexts.
Spearheaded through the Advisory system, our Middle School students develop and practice the social emotional skills necessary to be successful leaders and productive partners in the community. By engaging in deep theological study and regular participation in Catholic practices, our students explore their faith in God as they search for relevance and connection to their daily lives. Annual retreats and other school traditions are opportunities for our students to focus on their spiritual and emotional well-being, developing friendships in a community of classmates.
St. Michael’s Prep Middle School students understand that mistakes are part of the process of discovery, where they are supported and guided to persevere through the rigor of challenge and celebrate in the joy of success.
Our students are encouraged to engage in many options for co-curricular activities as well. Theater Arts, Fine Arts, Music, Technology, and an inclusive Athletics program are just some of the many opportunities for our Middle School students. Through these offerings our students learn to take responsible risks, learn new skills, and in the case of sports, not only develop physical fitness, but learn critical social skills such as teamwork, communication, and empathy, while developing meaningful and lifelong friendships.
