Matt Read

Upper School Music Instructor
Matt Read is a highly sought-after guitarist in the Austin music scene, renowned for his exceptional tone, musicianship, and professionalism. He began his professional music career at just 16, performing with the Dallas-based original band Blu Shale, and by 19, he was teaching at The Master’s Touch School of Music.
As a solo artist, Matt has released two original acoustic guitar albums, First Song and Onward, showcasing his artistry and skill. He has also collaborated with longtime friend Chris McQueen of Snarky Puppy to produce two albums with their acoustic duo, Read/McQueen: Western Theater and their self-titled album Read/McQueen.

In addition to his work as a performer, Matt has composed and produced music for television, film, podcasts, and social media. He remains an active participant in Austin’s vibrant music community, balancing his creative projects with a full private lesson studio. He also serves as the bandleader for his local church, where his leadership and passion for music continue to inspire those around him.
